According To Whim's Board Game of Rock and Roll Fame and Fortune!
NEWS
Welcome to the Rise of the Rock Star Kickstarter project website This was the page for the failed Kickstarter: Rise of the Rock Star.
We gave it our best shot at success and created a game that we felt played
well and had lots of replay value. We throughly researched the production
and did some smash-up excellent prep work but alas... We hope to try this
project again in the not too distant future. We hope you will join us.
PS. If you are making a Kickstarter of your own, we encourage you to look
through the month of blog posts for helpful tips.
What is Rise Of The Rock Star?
Rise of the Rock Star is a board game ATW Productions is developing. In order to get this game out to the masses we are running a Kickstarter Project to fund the production of the game.

What this Kickstarter?
Kickstarter is a website where you can promote your artistic project and attempt to obtain funding to get it produced. It is a 'crowd-funding' based donation site. Anyone can donate money to help us get the game produced!

Can I donate to the creation of you game?
Yes you can donate (at several levels, from $1 on up) to help us out.

Are you planning or in the middle of a Kickstarter yourself?
We want to talk! Send us an email so we can do some cross-promotion! The more people we can connect with the better our chances of successfully completing our goals. Rock on!
Rise Of The Rock Star FAQ

Here we will answer any questions you might have about our game. If you don't see your answer here, please drop us an email (will will not share your email or spam you). Click here.

You have a lot of updates on various sites, can you explain them?

We have several methods of communication so people have a choice as to how much information they want to have. Some are light on updates and content while others are focused on topics or frequent updates about the game and Kickstarter. Choose your poison!

Our Kickstarter page will update only when we have an important announcement such as funding goals or other major announcements. We don't want to burn people out.
Our Blogger Blog will have new blogs every three days. These blogs will be of general interest (some entertaining and some game based).
Our Facebook page will have any announcements come out every 3 or so days. These updates will include general information on the progress of the Kickstarter and any other fun stuff.
Our Twitter feed will have more detailed game development and Kickstarter related info on a daily basis. This is geared more for those who are interested in the game making and Kickstarter process.
Our website (which you are on now) will have videos we post (about game play and such) as well as Podcasts about the Kickstarter, game development, and more.
Who is producing your art work for the game?
We have entered an agreement with artist Jason Chalker to produce 83 pieces of art for Rise of the Rock Star. You can check out Jason's work at his website: ManlyArt.com. We have paid for 6 pieces of art up front. Once the Kickstarter is successfully funded Jason will begin the rest of the art work. We are sorry we don't have more art ready up front but that is what KickStarter is for!

Who is manufacturing your game?

We have chosen Wingo for the production of the game. We are thoroughly impressed with their speedy and complete communication and we feel confident that they will produce a great game for us.

Can you tell us what parts are for your game (sets, expansions, etc)?

Rise of the Rock Star is a board game with player pieces, dice, tokens, and 2 decks of cards. This is our primary goal. There will be stretch goals that will add 4 additional expansions! The expansions consist of more cards (and the 6 player expansion has additional tokens and player pieces).
Is Rise of the Rock Star your first game?

According To Whim has produced a game called Whim Wars (which we sell online and at the Dallas Comicon). We hope to run a Whim Wars Kickstarter next year to produce the version the game deserves! We have also some older RPGs (Time Runner and Super Spy) we hope to update and KS in the future too!
