The theme this week was Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame. So they should have all done Neil Diamond out of protest, just to show how ridiculous it was to put him in.
Jacob sang “Man in the Mirror.” Jacob always sounds great, and tonight was no exception.
Haley wasn’t all that bad, finally. She did “Take a Little Piece of My Heart” and at least during the chorus sounded pretty good. I still don’t think she’s all that good, but this is one of the few times I’ve enjoyed her.
Casey sang “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” It was almost Van Morrison does CCR in the style of “Stand by Me.” Watching the playbacks at the end, I think it was a little overshadowed by everything else that went on.
Lauren did a sleepy version of “Natural Woman” Her voice sounded great, but the song kind of droned on.
James did “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” There was nothing bad to say about it, but there was nothing great about it either. They got him crying again. Sigh.
Scotty did “Mama My Armchair is Broken” or something like that. I didn’t really like the song, but he did a pretty good job bringing some energy. I appreciate that he had some Elvis swagger to him without looking like an impersonator.
Pia sang “River Deep Mountain High” and it was quite good.
Stefano did “When a Man Loves a Woman” and I didn’t like it. It’s not that Stefano can’t sing, but he was all over the place.
Paul defiled “Folsom Prison Blues.” Just awful. I just cannot express enough how much I hated that thing they called a performance. Out of everything that Paul has ever done this was his worst, and sadly, he got the crowd so worked up that it’ll probably work for him. I can only hope that Johnny Cash fans of America united and voted for everyone except him.
So bottom three. It’s should be Paul, Stefano, and Scotty. Sadly, I think that Lauren is going to make her first visit to the bottom three tonight. And Casey might end up there again too. The thing with Casey is that I think it’s too soon for his supporters to start feeling lax again. Since Haley has had a bad run with the bottom three, I’m going to call it as Stefano, Haley, and Lauren. It’s possible that Paul being in the bottom three last week might have been a sign of his downfall, but I think he probably skated by this week on getting everyone excited. I think Stefano will go home, because it’s long overdue.
