Flash Fiction: The Concept Blend of Love

by Chris McGinty

Two random words got together one day and after a small amount of time for thought those words produced a form of offspring. It was all very sexual. At least, it would have been if the two words hadn’t been asexual and impotent. There just wasn’t a lot of sexiness there. The thing is that asexual in biology has a different definition. It’s able to reproduce with itself. It was a concept blend that could only have one parent, so impotent couldn’t really be used anyway. This left a concept blend of asexual biologically which reproduces with itself and asexual socially meaning one who has no attraction to anyone sexually. So reproduces with itself, but it’s not attracted to itself. When it goes to perform it can’t get it up for itself, so it’s impotent, which means that it is once more a concept blend with a second parent and is not asexual. And you thought humans had a difficult time with modern parenting.
