Doodad Part 4

Welcome.

Today I will jump ahead 13 years from my last post about my Doodads and bring you up to speed on Doodad #4.

Back in the late 2000s I bought a few VW Beetles and sold the last one back in 2012. In 2020 (I think). I bought yet another Doodad (that’s what Chris calls it based on what Robert Kiysoki calls junk you waste your money on).

  • Doodad #1 (around 2009) a running yellow 69 or 70 Beetle. Sold for 1k a couple of years later.
  • Doodad #2 (around 2010) a non running one I was going to refurb but gave up. Sold for like $100.
  • Doodad #3 (around 2010) a fairly nice 73 Super Bug but it was setup to race. Sold it for $3,500 in 2012.
  • Doodad #4 (around 2020) a VERY nice show Beetle 1969.

I bought the most recent Doodad for about $8,500. I thought it was time to have one that didn’t really need work and looked nice. Looking back, I probably should have gotten a convertible but that’s ok. This is a nice Bug.

When we sold our house in Bridgeport in 2022 I moved it to a coworker’s house in town where it has mostly sat for 2 years. I finally bit the bullet and paid to have it hauled to my current house to the tune of $400. It’s home now and I need to clean it up and drive it around a bit. VWs are very easy to maintain and fix if they have issues.

My idea is to either keep it or sell it for around 15k to put that money towards a new truck. I really need one (mine is on it’s last legs). So we will see how things go.
