Nathan’s take on: Brain storming for Cash in 2025 – Services

I want more cash. Do you want more cash? Ofcourse you do. Let’s start a list here of ideas on how to bring in cash, some old ideas and some new ones. Some serious and some silly ones (I’m looking at you Chris). This post will be about Services opportunities. We will dive into other fields in other blogs.

Here is a list of money making Services business that I have looked into (some thoroughly, some not so much).

I see these types of business as businesses may need some capital to start (and some need none at all). Check them out and add your thoughts or suggestions in the comments.

  • Service – Flyers (as in pieces of paper stuck on doors and car windshield advertising others’ businesses). This is Chris’ domain here but I will step in. This costs no money up front to get going. You just need a good pair of legs (and some decent shoes) and the ability to solicit business for work. I believe Chris tried for ten cents per flier but that amount can vary depending on the deal you work out with the owner. I wouldn’t suggest the windshield type. I don’t think people like it when you do that.
  • Service – Yard Work. May sound a bit silly (like we are 10 or something) but the point of any successful business is getting built up to the point where YOU don’t do the work anymore but make enough to hire others to do it for you. Yard Maintenance requires the equipment to get started and the ability to solicit homeowners (or business owners). Hard work in the summer but eventually you could have an empire.
  • Service – House Flipping. This is another one of Chris’ topics. the current market conditions make this option very difficult to get into and you need a large amount of capital upfront but it could make you money in the right circumstances. Chris is always bothering me to do this since I can handyman but unless it was a full time job, I just can’t see myself doing it as a side hustle.
  • Service – Uber/Lyft/UberEats. Chris knows this one too. To me it isn’t worth it due to the vehicle wear and tear but Chris has some insight into various ways to make it a bit more profitable that he may go into. If you like driving, then this is for you.
  • Service – Playing Solitaire apps for cash. I’m kidding. I am just seeing if you are still paying attention.
  • Service – Online Content Creation – Video (YouTube, TikTok, OnlyFans, etc). This is the one we all want to fall back on. Creating content and getting ad revenue. I’ve attempted a YouTube channel for kids after seeing dumb videos of adults playing with toys getting millions of views. It didn’t work. I don’t know the secrets of the mysterious algorithm and probably never will. The trick isn’t in creating content, it’s finding the audience that is out there. They are out there… you just have to get your videos/content infront of them, that is the KEY.
  • Service – Online Content Creation – Creative/Other (Teacher Pay Teachers, DeviantArt, etc). This category is more like getting others to purchase you digital creations. In the long run, I think this may be more ‘business smart’ due to the concept of ‘create one and done’ mentality. We will cover this topic in another post.
  • Service – Game Creation. Chris and I have done this for years now and have attempted to go legit on it. We’ve been successful in creating a game and getting it made but in a world where a bajillion games are made each year, you have to find that audience like in Online Content Creation.
  • Service – Creation (other). This would be like self publishing books, music, etc. You could upfront the money or use Kickstarter or Indiegogo to help fund it but ofcourse there are hoops and costs with that too.

A word on Pateron

Pateron (and similar creator ‘fund me’ sites) is an add-on to any of the service business where you are doing something creative. You create stuff and gather a following of people who give to you monthly to help support your efforts. If you are going to create something, add a Pateron just incase someone enjoys your efforts and want to help.
