Chris came by for our regular Thursday meeting. We played some NetRunner as well as the insanely simple LRC dice game (I suggest you play with at least 3 people) and we shot a Vlog and a sketch.
If you remember I discussed my goal of doing a sketch and Vlog a week for the next 10 weeks. Well actually the goal is to have 10 sketches and Vlogs done, not necessarily one per week.
This week’s sketch was a AccordingToWhim.com commercial. We utilized the Donkey Kong arcade machine for this commercial. The deal is that Chris is playing and then a Tron-like entity comes on the screen and commands him to visit the site. Chris refers to the game as Konkey Dong and later Donkey Punch (which are both male-giggle-inducing). We then shot my head infront of a green screen and I gave my MCP-like lines. I will later AfterEffects my head on to the game screen and make it look ‘computerized’.
The Vlog went really well this time. Chris discussed one of (probably) the most discussed topics on YouTube… American Idol. We went out on the back porch and melted in the heat while he talked about how much of a freak show that has become.
They were both fast and (I believe) entertaining. I have a couple more ideas for sketches and it’s Chris’ job to come up with the Vlog ideas since they are just off the cuff talks into the camera.
In case you were interested we did utilize some of the tips from my ‘avoid these while filming’ blog I did a few days back. The A/C was running and I shut it off while we were on the back porch since the fan is right there. We also had to cut off the laundry I was drying while we shot the commercial.
