Meet the New Philosophy…

by Chris McGinty

I’m starting to feel like I’ve covered everything, at least where it comes to my philosophical beliefs about the human condition. As I’m considering possible topics for blog posts, I find that I’ve already written about most of my ideas. I usually try to find a new angle when that happens, but I think I’ve been doing it for so long that I’m running out of new angles as well. I’m not saying that I have no new ideas or new angles, but that I’m getting to a point where I’m not sure how interested I am in some of the new angles.

I don’t want to get intellectual. I’m a philosopher, damn it. I want to find the avenues of thought that no one else drives down. Jung, Freud, Locke, Russell, LeBon, Blart, McGinty. That’s how I want the all time great philosopher list to read. Maybe put Drew Carrey on there too. I like him.

This must be the place where a good philosopher would shut the fuck up for a while and really dig deep. What about the human condition hasn’t been fully explored before? What have my peers (hi, Nathan) said that I can be contrarian about? Where are the books that no one reads anymore, so I can steal thoughts from them? Drugs! Where are the drugs that I can get other people to take to tell me what they thought they learned?

I’m pretty sure that I have plenty to write this year. It just doesn’t feel like it at the moment. If I don’t have a lot of new thoughts to get to then you can rest assured that I will reduce, reuse, and recycle every blog post I’ve ever written. There’s nothing wrong with with a little repetition. I think that’s what our day to day lives are anyway. We try to entertain ourselves with what feels new while doing the same things over and over.

Chris McGinty is a blogger… is a repeatable way to lead into a new thought.
