I haven’t posted to the blog for a while. I have written for the blog. I have material I could have posted. I think I just don’t have the time to post. I mean, I do. It’s a matter of priority, I guess. The phase of posting the blog is daunting sometimes. It’s not difficult, but it has a few steps. I preach the idea of spending a certain amount of time on a project each day, but I’m not good at it. I probably have too many projects. I think it’s the reason I’ve avoided the blog for so long. I wanted to focus on other projects. Yet, I really love writing blog posts and always wish I had more time to work on them.
House of Love – I Don’t Know Why I Love You
No matter what I find myself focused on, there is always a place to write about it in a blog. As I understand it, and I refuse to look it up right now (I didn’t create this rumour, but it’s out there so I’ll repeat it), the term blog is an abbreviation of “web log.” It’s a diary that you create on the web. In that way, I can just write about whatever I’m doing at any given point. There doesn’t have to be consistency. That’s for people who are trying to gain readers. While readers would be nice, I’m not sure I care anymore. I’ve been writing for so long without readers, why worry about it now?
Lately, I’ve been interested in consuming and purging all of my stuff. What I mean by this is that I don’t want to just get rid of everything. I want to take the time to experience what it has to offer and then get rid of it. I’ve bought a lot of crap over the years and I don’t want it to be a waste of time and space.
I’m interested in research and essay writing. I enjoy finding connections no one else has found. I believe I’m pretty good at it. It requires exhausting all of the connections that have already been found and then creating some of your own, which in turn requires taking a lot of notes and mixing and matching.
Edie Brickell and New Bohemians – Keep Coming Back
The blog is the perfect venue for the things I would like to focus on. As I read, listen, and watch I can review, deep dive, and make connections. As I research I can compile my notes. As I work on projects I can write about my progress. It’s maybe not a good thing to turn everything you do into a project, but sometimes it’s good to just journal about it, so there’s that too. The blog is a catch all.
Chris McGinty is a blogger who should probably remember that sometimes.
